Tadpoles

One of Brooklyn's favorite things was sitting by the river at our Redwoods camp ground and watching the tadpoles.  Yes, out of everything we have see she LOVES the tadpoles!

Elizabeth is driving!

Elizabeth is driving for a bit, so I got to blog!  We are now steering toward the east, with just under 5000 miles.  We have about 5-6 more parks to hit, before getting home in time I can return to work :(.  The girls have been great and we are loving the trip.

Elephant Seals, Zebras, and Castles

Elephants, Zebras, and Hearst castle in the evening.  Zebras were not out and the castle was hidden in the clouds, but the elephant seals were active.  Onward to Grand Canyon!  If you want to know about Zebras read about Hearst Castle.

Elizabeth and I discovered Hearst Castle just by driving California 1 a couple years ago.  All of a sudden we spotted zebras out in the field on the California coast...we had to find out why.

Yosemite

It was a great day at Yosemite.  On this June 30th day 150 years ago Abraham Lincoln signed the Grant creating the Yosemite Park.  Yes it was 150 years to the day, so it was pretty cool to be there and packed.

There was stands everywhere for the girls. To learn more about the park.  We did get a chance to find a quiet place to have lunch and get our toes wet in the river.  Yosemite is a pretty park, but a bit hot.  Though the river is ice cold!

San Francisco

Look hard in the background.

Wine

We decided it wasn't a good idea to stop and taste wine so, we took a picture of the grapes instead.

California

Camped last night in the Redwood Forest!  Girls loved the big trees.

Crater Lake

The bluest water we have ever seen.  Took a two hour boat ride in the lake!

We did hit our lowest temp at the top of crater lake at 37 degrees.

My Rainier

Didn't get to see the mountain because of the clouds but still enjoyed the visit.  Our Jr. Rangers are building the badge collection!

There is still a bit of snow on Rainer!

Change of plans

We changed plans today.  We are skipping North Cascades to squeeze in a  day of whale watching - if we can get it scheduled.  Plus, the girls need a little more time out of the car.

So for now the next stop is Rainer ... Off we go!
